Fred Mastro jest ekspertem w dziedzinie obrony osobistej. Dzięki ponad 20-letniemu doświadczeniu jako bramkarz w klubach nocnych i bodyguard, stworzył prosty, skuteczny i realistyczny system radzenia sobie z różnymi rodzajami agresji współczesnej przemocy w miastach. Ewoluując w świecie bezpieczeństwa, musiał dostosować pewne techniki, aby sprostać potrzebom i obowiązującym przepisom. Wyróżnia się zatem samoobronę osobistą (MDS) i samoobronę zawodową. Co wniósł do MDS TACTICAL.
Fred Mastro, miłośnik sztuk walki, od ponad 30 lat trenuje boks angielski, judo, karate, BJJ (czarny pas). Odkrycie Penchak Silat, indonezyjskiej sztuki walki, a także filipińskiej sztuki walki Kali i nie zapominając o nożach, gdzie Fred jest prawdziwym artystą w tej praktyce, współpracując także z Dougiem Marcaidą, jednym z największych ekspertów na świecie, specjalizującym się w tej dziedzinie Karambit, to bogactwo bojowe doprowadziło kilka lat temu do stworzenia MDS.
Dziś stoi na czele kilku szkół na świecie, z siedzibą w Belgii, a ostatnio zupełnie nowego Mastro Academy Open Mind Center zlokalizowanego w Ransart, gdzie panuje szacunek, samokontrola, przekaz, pokora i otwarty umysł. Fred zaszczepił w nim swoją ceni we wszystkich krajach świata stale rozwijając swój własny System MDS => Mastro Defence System.
